Signing the agreement of offering Governmental Electronic payment services between Knet and Ministry of finance

The Ministry of Finance signed, onThursday 8th of May 2008, an agreement with K-Net whereby the latter will offer electronic payment services for collecting state fees, in a step toward transforming to the e-government system.

The contract was signed by Finance Undersecretary Khalifa Hamada and K-Net General Manager Hasan Akbar.

Electronic payment of government fees would be made available at individual points-of-sale and self-service electronic stations (KIOSKs), as well as through the internet and mobile phones. This would allow citizens and expatriates to pay their dues with ease and without the need to personally go to government administrations, adding that the service would come into implementation within the next two months in cooperation with the Central Agency for Information Technology.

The agreement is in line with the government's efforts to move towards the e-government system, in implementation of the cabinet's decision regarding this matter. The ministry of finance will issue regulations for making these payments and regulations to govern the subcontracts yet to be signed with other ministries.
